Driveway Remove & Pave in Seminole

Project overview

This Seminole driveway had cracked all the way across. The whole surface was covered in interlocking cracks, the pattern people call alligator cracking. By the time asphalt looks like that, the problem is no longer on the surface. The pavement has lost its strength, and patching or sealing on top of it only covers the damage for a short while.

The fix was to take it out and start over. We removed the old asphalt down to the base, then paved all 450 square feet new.

How the job went

The work followed three stages, and the photos show each one:

1. RemoveThe old, cracked asphalt came out completely, leaving the driveway down to bare base.
2. Prepare the baseWith the old material gone, the base was exposed and ready for new pavement.
3. PaveNew asphalt went down and was rolled smooth, tying into the street apron at the bottom of the drive.

What this project demonstrates

Not every driveway needs to be torn out, and we’ll tell you when one doesn’t. When the cracking runs across the whole surface, though, removing and repaving is the repair that lasts. You end up with a driveway that is new from the base up, not an old one with a fresh coat on top.
