Asphalt Remove & Replace Repair at a Largo Commercial Parking Lot
Project overview
This commercial lot in Largo had one section of asphalt that had given out. The failed spot was in the drive lane, at the end of a curbed landscape island beside a row of covered parking.
Island ends take a beating. Vehicles cut the corner tight, and water runs off the curb onto the pavement. Once asphalt breaks up in a spot like that, sealing or patching over the top won’t hold, so the section had to come out.
Taking the failed section out and replacing it stops one bad spot from spreading across the drive lane.
How the job went
- MarkThe repair area was marked out in paint so the boundaries were set before any removal started.
- RemoveThe broken asphalt inside the marked area came out, leaving the base exposed.
- ReplaceNew asphalt went into the opening and was compacted flush with the surrounding lane, right up against the island curb.
What this project demonstrates
A failed spot in a parking lot doesn’t mean the whole lot needs repaving. When the damage is confined to one area, a remove-and-replace repair puts new asphalt where the pavement actually failed and leaves the sound surface alone. That keeps the cost down and keeps the job short for the property.
It’s also the right order of work if sealcoating is on the schedule. Sealer won’t fix broken asphalt, so failed sections get repaired first.
