What we were working with

Anderson & Sons Asphalt recently finished an overlay at a gas station in Safety Harbor. The before photo shows what fuel stops do to pavement: oil staining, a rough and weathered surface, and worn patches where the top layer has started to break down.

The concrete apron at the storefront stayed as it was. The asphalt in front of it was what needed work.

Why an overlay

An overlay puts a new layer of asphalt directly over the existing pavement. It makes sense when the base underneath is still solid and the surface is what’s failing. You skip the cost and downtime of tearing everything out, and the lot gets a fresh, even driving surface. [Clayton: confirm the base was sound and no full-depth repair was needed]

The work

Our crew overlaid roughly 1,600 square feet. It’s a small footprint, but it’s a lot customers pull into every day, so it has to look right and be ready to use. [Clayton: confirm whether the station stayed open and how many days we were on site]

The cones in the after photos mark off the new asphalt while it sets. What’s left is a smooth, uniform black surface where the stained and worn pavement used to be. [Clayton: confirm whether we did any of the striping or blue markings, or just the paving]

Small jobs count too

We handle everything from 1,000-square-foot driveways to lots over a million square feet. If you manage a parking lot in Safety Harbor, Clearwater, or anywhere in Pinellas County, and the surface is worn but the base is holding, an overlay may be worth pricing.
